19/21El tercer condicional se utiliza para hablar de resultados hipotéticos que podrían haber ocurrido de sucesos del pasado, pero que no ocurrieron y no se pueden cambiar.
Hay dos formas de utilizarlo:
- Con la estructura If + past perfect + would have + past participle.
- Invirtiendo el orden de las oraciones con la estructura Would have + past participle + If + past perfect.
Veamos algunos ejemplos:
- If the weather had been good yesterday, we would have played football.
- If she hadn’t put her keys on the table, she wouldn’t have forgotten them.
- They wouldn’t have discussed it in the office If Ana hadn’t been late.
- I wouldn’t have missed the flight If I hadn’t forgotten the departure time.
