5/20Las cláusulas complementarias (complementary clauses) son oraciones complementarias que agregan un contexto al sustantivo, adjetivo o verbo; para que la oración principal sea más descriptiva y con mayor información.
Las cláusulas complementarias pueden empezar con: when, that, about, after, whenever, whatever, etc.
Por ejemplo, para dar más información al sustantivo jacket utilizamos una cláusula complementaria:
- Oración principal: She bought a jacket.
- Cláusula complementaria: The jacket was on sale.
- Oración completa: She bought a jacket that was on sale.
Ejemplos usando about y cláusulas complementarias
Cláusula que complementa a un adjetivo:
- Oración principal: We are all excited.
- Oración completa: We are all excited about this course!
Cláusula que complementa a un verbo:
- Oración principal: She is thinking.
- Oración completa: She is thinking about writing a new book.
Cláusula que complementa a un sustantivo:
- Oración principal: This course is the best course in the market.
- Oración completa: This course about coding is the best course in the market.
