Expresar que dos elementos o conceptos son iguales en términos de su grado o cantidad te permitirá comparar dos ideas e indicar que ambas tienen el mismo nivel de interés o de importancia.

Comparativos de igualdad en inglés

Para comparar dos cosas que tienen el mismo grado o importancia o interés, puedes utilizar la expresión “As much as”. Esta expresión tiene dos significados en el Inglés, comprendamos la primera de ellas para realizar este tipo de comparaciones.

Veamos algunos ejemplos:

  • He enjoyed working at the university as much as he enjoyed being in the army.
  • He had enjoyed working at the university as much as being in the army.

  • She desired freedom as much as she desired stability.
  • She had desired freedom as much as she had desired stability.

  • She loved her daughter as much as she loved her cat.
  • She loved her daughter as much as her cat.

  • She had spent just as much as he had on Christmas gifts.
  • She had spent just as much money on Christmas gifts as he had.

As much as” es un conector que te permitirá establecer comparaciones entre dos cosas y podemos traducirlo como “Tanto como”. Pero también tiene un segundo significado que exploraremos en la siguiente clase.
