Hablar de la inmediatez con la que se producirá un evento te permite expresar acciones que están a minutos de suceder o resultados que están a punto de concretarse.
Para expresar que un evento está a punto de suceder, puedes hacer uso de la expresión “on the point of” o “at the point of” seguido de un verbo en su forma -ing. Ambas expresiones son muy similares y más formales. Te permiten reemplazar la palabra “about” que también se suele utilizar para hablar de que algo está por suceder.
Veamos algunos ejemplos: - The company was at the point of bankruptcy. - He was at the point of quitting. - We were on the point of leaving when Mike arrived. - She was on the point of going to bed. - They were at the point of going to bed.
Expresa con este sencillo vocabulario esa acción que te encuentras a punto de realizar o ese evento que está a punto de suceder.
